Airbus 'carefully analysing' impact of US withdrawal of JCPOA

9 May, 2018

Airbus stated it is "carefully analysing" a decision by US President Donald Trump to withdraw the US from the joint comprehensive plan of action (JCPOA) agreement between Iran, the US, EU, Germany, France, the UK, Russia and China regarding Iran's nuclear programme and will evaluate its next steps "consistent with our internal policies and in full compliance with US sanctions and export control regulations" (Bloomberg, 09-May-2018). Iran ordered 46 A320 family aircraft, 38 A330s and 16 A350s from Airbus. Deliveries were slowed by ongoing concerns about US sanctions against Iran, as well as reluctance in the financial sector to provide funding for the deal. According to the Airbus Apr-2018 deliveries sheet, 95 aircraft remain to be delivered to Iran Air.
