airBaltic considers new European bases

airBaltic CEO Martin Gauss said the carrier plans to base 40 to 50 aircraft in the Baltics and is considering other cities in Europe as bases (Postimees, 04-Oct-2018). airBaltic holds orders for 50 A220-300 and options for another 30 aircraft. Mr Gauss said: “In Baltic countries, there will be 40 to 50 aircraft, but the Baltics cannot be the base for the others. Baltic countries will receive an additional 15 aircraft and this should be sufficient for the region”. Mr Gauss added: “We already selected a few other cities in European countries from which the aircraft could start operating”.
