AirAsia Group CEO sees 'enormous potential' in Japan

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said there is "enormous potential that Japan will become one of the big earners within our group" (CNBC/Nikkei, 06-Nov-2018). He described Japan as "a big market", noting its population of 100 million with "lots and lots of great airports that are empty". Mr Fernandes said: "Most people in Asia want to come to Japan, it's been expensive and it's been hard to connect here" and added: "We'll grow as quick as we're allowed to grow and we think there's a huge potential". He also stated: "I am very determined to make AirAsia Japan work" and commented: "Our plans are very big but they depend on the regulators".
