Air Zimbabwe in talks to secure ‘new modern aircraft’: report

    Air Zimbabwe communications officer Firstme Vitori reportedly confirmed the airline has only two operational aircraft and stated: “This fleet is not commensurate with the market demand on the current route network, notwithstanding other expansion plans contained in the turnaround strategy” (The Sunday Mail). Ms Vitori reportedly said discussions are underway to secure “new modern aircraft” with “assistance and guidance” from Zimbabwe‘s Government. Zimbabwe‘s Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry has reportedly signed a MoU with China‘s Touchroad International Holdings Group to enable investment in special economic zones in Zimbabwe (The Herald). The agreement will reportedly allow USD1.2 billion in investment in tourism and hospitality at locations including Victoria Falls.
