Air Niugini confirms limited international cargo operations

Air Niugini confirmed (07-Apr-2020) it is only transporting cargo on inbound international services from Brisbane, Cairns and Singapore to Papua New Guinea. Passengers are limited to medical and other critical personnel supporting the government's efforts to control the coronavirus pandemic. The airline is transporting medical supplies, medical equipment and food supplies with Boeing 767 equipment and transported more than 30 tons of cargo in the last three weeks. GM for cargo Gus Kraus noted: "There is an impact on the high costs of operating these continuous freight services", but added: "Air Niugini is playing its part to assist the government".
