Air New Zealand to participate in Plastic Free July

Air New Zealand announced (08-Jul-2019) plans to double its reduction in the number of single use plastic items used from 24 million to 55 million items to mark Plastic Free July. Details include:

  • Removal of individual use plastic water bottles from Business Premier and premium economy cabin, as well as Works Deluxe offering on Tasman and Pacific Island services under five hours in duration. Reducing carbon emissions by 300,000kg and reducing the amount of water bottles reaching landfill by 460,000;
  • Individual sauce packets removed from Business Premier cabins on Hong Kong and North America services until the end of Oct-2019 to prevent 200,000 plastic packets reaching landfill;
  • Introducing plant based coffee cups from Oct-2019 and introducing recyclable plastic water cups from Sep-2019. [more - original PR]
