Air New Zealand to deploy 787-9 year round on Auckland-Adelaide route

29 November, 2017

Air New Zealand announced (29-Nov-2017) plans to deploy Boeing 787-9 equipment on Auckland-Adelaide route on a year round basis. The move will increase capacity on the route by more than 30% over the winter season. Air New Zealand commenced 787-9 service to Adelaide on 26-Oct-2017. The aircraft was initially scheduled to operate the route three times per week over the peak period from 26-Oct-2017 to 25-Mar-2018, complemented by A320 services. The aircraft will now operate on a year round basis and will continue to be supplemented by A320 flying in peak travel periods. Air New Zealand chief revenue officer Cam Wallace said the reaction to introducing the 787-9 on the route has been outstanding, with "strong demand for the premium inflight experiences available on our Dreamliner aircraft with both Business Premier and Premium Economy really resonating with customers".
