Sunshine Coast Airport announced (05-Jul-2019) Air New Zealand resumed four times weekly seasonal Auckland-Sunshine Coast service on 05-Jul-2019. The route aims to connect Sunshine Coast passengers with international services departing Auckland, with the seasonal schedule to end on 27-Oct-2019. Sunshine Coast Airport acting CEO Frank Mondello reported the seasonal service in the past has operated "at close to 80% capacity in recent years, and that's about the maximum we can achieve because the existing runway restricts the passenger and freight loads the aircraft can carry".
