Air New Zealand announced (16-Oct-2018) plans to substitute a further 14 single use plastic products from its supply chain over the next 12 months. The substitution will reduce waste by more than 24 million items p/a including 260,000 plastic toothbrushes, 3000 straws, 7.1 million stirrers and 260,000 eye mask wrappers. The programme is part of a wider plastic reduction initiative supported by New Zealand‘s Ministry for the Environment to identify lower impact alternatives and improve recycling and composting capabilities.
