Air New Zealand: First ever air service between New Zealand and Chicago

27 March, 2018

Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon said (27-Mar-2018) he expects new Auckland-Chicago O'Hare route to add around NZD70 million (USD51 million) p/a to our economy. Mr Luxon also noted tourism data showing that more than 50% of spending by US visitors to New Zealand is done outside of the main centres. Mr Luxon also expects Chicago will be an "attractive option for Kiwis wanting to explore the city or head on to other North American destinations", via the carrier's JV with United Airlines. Air New Zealand will launch the three times weekly nonstop service on 30-Nov-2018. Flight time will be approximately 15 hours northbound and just over 16 hours southbound. [more - original PR]
