Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon said (27-Mar-2018) he expects new Auckland-Chicago O'Hare route to add around NZD70 million (USD51 million) p/a to our economy. Mr Luxon also noted tourism data showing that more than 50% of spending by US visitors to New Zealand is done outside of the main centres. Mr Luxon also expects Chicago will be an "attractive option for Kiwis wanting to explore the city or head on to other North American destinations", via the carrier's JV with United Airlines.
