Malta's Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said that the government and the board of directors of Air Malta have decided to replace the carrier's ageing fleet, commencing with the delivery of the carrier's first A320neo recently (Malta Today, 09-Jun-2018). He said: "We are confident that next year, a number of other aircraft will also be changed. Through this process we will be strengthening Air Malta's operations". Mr Mizzi said that Air Malta's ageing fleet is creating problems for the carrier's schedules, adding the carrier is facing challenges with management of its crew and would require new pilots in the near future.
