Air Kiribati GM Danial Rochford reported the carrier’s fleet order allows for “opportunities to fly from Australia and New Zealand direct to Kiribati” (Air Transport World, 05-Jul-2019). The carrier placed two firm Embraer E190-E2 aircraft orders and two purchase rights for the same aircraft type, with the first aircraft scheduled to be delivered in Dec-2019 and the following in 2020. Mr Rochford noted the aircraft is the “perfect option for us” due to its “long range capabilities”.
