Air Italy responds to American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines allegations

22 April, 2019

Air Italy responded (18-Apr-2019) to allegations made by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, stating it is "perplexed" but "flattered" that the three largest US carriers claim to be threatened by Air Italy. According to Air Italy, its ownership structure has been approved by ENAC and the European Commission. Alisarda holds 51% of Air Italy's shares while Qatar Airways has a 49% stake. Qatar Airways does not codeshare on Air Italy's Italy-US services. Air Italy added that if any of the three US carrier believe Air Italy's "small share" in "their" market is a "threat" or that the airline should not serve the US or have an Italian carrier licence, they should address their complaints to ENAC and the European Commission.
