Air India ‘saw a marginal increase in our passenger loads’ following Jet Airways exit

Air India chairman and MD Ashwani Lohani reported the airline “saw a marginal increase in our passenger loads” following Jet Airways‘ suspension of operations in Apr-2019, but said the increase “withered away as private airlines added capacity, some of it by taking on lease Jet’s grounded planes” (Deccan Herald, 13-Aug-2019). Mr Lohani said Air India could not add similar capacity following Jet Airways’ exit from the market “because of our complex way of working”.
