Air Canada: Mexico will be competitively disadvantaged if new airport does not go ahead

13 April, 2018

Air Canada director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean Luis Noriega stated the construction of New Mexico City International Airport is crucial to Mexico's competitiveness (Reportur, 11-Apr-2018). Mr Noriega said: "Having the ability to access slots and boarding gates will allow us to continue investing in assets in Mexico". He pointed out that Mexico will be disadvantaged "compared to some airports in the region" if the new airport does not go ahead. Air Canada has started to see "substantial growth" in traffic between Mexico and Canada, with a 36% growth in capacity expected for 2018.
