Air Canada CEO: We're 'much, much, much stronger than we’ve ever been'

Air Canada CEO Calin Rovinescu stated the company is "much, much, much stronger than we've ever been", citing its new loyalty programme and agreement with Air China (BNN Bloomberg, 11-Jun-2018). He stated the airline has "tremendous liquidity" on its balance sheet, which sits at more than CAD4.5 billion (USD3.4 billion). He noted the carrier resolved "for all practical purposes" its pension issues by matching assets and liabilities going forward. Mr Rovinescu concluded: "You never want to spike the ball in victory too early, but we have become a much more resilient, strong airline with a much stronger balance sheet".
