Air Belgium scraps plans to launch Charleroi-Hong Kong service however China 'still our priority'

Air Belgium renounced (14-Mar-2019) plans to resume Brussels Charleroi-Hong Kong service given current market conditions. "The economical and operational conditions are not met to viably resume the service. It is a painful decision to make but a reasonable one when it comes to preserving our development capabilities and assure continued full employment", Air Belgium CEO Niky Terzakis stated. The carrier stated mainland China is "still our priority". It is preparing to serve two destinations in summer 2019 to mainland China and is finalising services to the Americas by winter 2019/2020.
