Aeromexico operating expenses up 24% in 3Q2018

    Aeromexico reported (16-Oct-2018) a 23.7% year-on-year increase in operating expenses in 3Q2018 attributed to higher MXN denominated fuel prices, exchange rate depreciation and increased capacity. Details include:

    • Salaries increased 14.5% attributed to upgauging strategy, 6.5% increase in capacity and macroeconomic factors including a 6.7% depreciation of the MXN and 5% inflation;
    • Maintenance increased by 5.2% due to depreciation of the MXN and increase in operations;
    • Communications and traffic expenses increased 15.1% due to increase in international operations and depreciation of the MXN;
