Aer Lingus to reintroduce business class on short haul routes to complement trans Atlantic expansion

17 December, 2018

Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh said the carrier plans to reintroduce business class on its busiest short haul routes from 2H2019 in order to offer an "end to end" business class product for trans Atlantic passengers connecting to London, Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona from Dublin Airport (Irish Times, 14-Dec-2018). Mr Kavanagh commented: "At the moment, passengers getting a business class experience across the Atlantic transfer on to an economy aircraft... When we have the LRs going on into Europe, they will now have a business cabin with full lie flat seat. So they'll get consistent service from all of the gateways in North America to the principal gateways in Europe". As previously reported by CAPA, Aer Lingus plans to significantly boost trans Atlantic operations in 2019.
