ACI-NA: America's airports contribute USD1.3 trillion to economy, equivalent to 7% of GDP

Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) released (13-Nov-2018) an economic impact study of 493 commercial airports in the US. Findings revealed the airports' collective national output rose 13% to USD1.4 trillion since 2013, contributing 7% to GDP and creating a total payroll of USD428 billion. The study considered employment numbers, payroll figures, and output generated. ACI-NA president and CEO Kevin M Burke said Americas airports are "powerful economic engines", and the study reaffirmed the "valuable role airports play in job creation and economic growth in local communities".
