ACI Europe: European direct connectivity almost entirely attributed to LCCs in past decade

    ACI Europe reported (26-Jun-2019) Europe‘s direct connectivity increase of 29.7% in the past 10 years was almost entirely attributed to LCCs, (+151.6%), as a result of dynamic expansion and near stagnation (+3.7%) of full service and other carriers (FSOCs). LCCs have increased direct connectivity by 135.6% in the EU market, while FSOCs have decreased by 7%. ACI Europe reported the share of direct connectivity offered by LCCs at major European hubs, including Frankfurt AirportAmsterdam Schiphol AirportParis Charles de Gaulle AirportIstanbul AirportMunich Airport and London Heathrow Airport, has increased from 5% to 10% over the past 10 years, reflecting upmarket movement.
