ACCC proposes authorisation of Qantas and BP Australia partnership

24 November, 2019

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) proposed (22-Nov-2019) to authorise Qantas, BP Australia and independent BP petrol stations to collectively participate in the BP Rewards, Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Business Reward programmes for a period of five years. The ACCC also granted interim authorisation in relation to BP's participation in the Qantas Business Rewards programme, with BP's participation to commence 01-Feb-2020. ACCC commissioner Stephen Ridgeway said the arrangement will "provide public benefits" and is "also likely to provide cost savings to the parties" by allowing BP to negotiate with Qantas on behalf of BP petrol station owners.
