A4E MD: Govts 'must act immediately' to improve predictability of strike impacts, protect consumers

8 May, 2019

Airlines for Europe (A4E) MD Thomas Reynaert stated (08-May-2019) governments "must act immediately" regarding public sector strikes and the predictability of traffic strikes' impact, in order to "protect the rights of consumers and prevent long term damage to European economies". He argued that placing a 72 hour individual notification requirement for employees wishing to strike would improve passengers' ability to be informed about the expected disruptions to their journeys. Better protection of overflights "is also imperative and long overdue", Mr Reynaert continued. A4E noted 22 of 30 ATC strike days originated in France in 2018, representing 75% of all ATC strikes in Europe. [more - original PR]
