A350ULR to be 30% more efficient than A340 on nonstop US services: Singapore Airlines CEO

Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong said the A350-900ULR aircraft with which the airline plans to commence Singapore-New York Newark service in Oct-2018 and Singapore-Los Angeles service in Nov-2018 will be “more than 30% more efficient” than the A340-500 equipment previously used to operate nonstop Singapore-US services (The Straits Times, 04-Aug-2018). Mr Goh also noted the larger fleet of 63 A350s compared to five A340-500s “means that a lot of things, like engineering spares, can be shared”, adding: “This will produce efficiency”.
